Acknowledging your surf level is the first step toward improvement. Many people struggle to describe their abilities or select the right course, they know they want to catch waves, but are unsure what they need to progress smoothly and confidently.
The guide below will help you identify your surf level :
Understanding Your Surf Level
-
Perfect for first-timers or those who’ve only surfed a handful of times. You’ll discover the basics: understanding the ocean, handling your board, catching white water waves, and standing up for the first time. It’s all about building confidence in a fun, safe environment.
-
If you’ve surfed before but still struggle to stand consistently or feel comfortable in the water, this level is for you. We’ll work on your take-off, improve your board control, and help you catch waves more independently, setting you up for the next big step.
-
Time to leave the white water behind! You’ll learn to paddle out, position yourself in the lineup, and catch your first unbroken (green) waves. We’ll also focus on turning, surfing “down the line,” and staying safe in more dynamic conditions.
-
You’re now working toward full independence. No more being pushed into waves. You’ll learn to read the ocean, position yourself smartly, and select the right waves on your own. This level is about refining technique, linking maneuvers, and preparing to surf confidently without a coach.
